About this archive
Indiana's Gore is a transcription archive of primary-source records covering the southeastern Indiana counties — Switzerland, Dearborn, Ohio, Ripley, Franklin, Randolph, Union, Wayne, Fayette, and Jefferson — the region historically known as “Indiana's Gore.”
The archive holds 2752 restored articles spanning newspaper notices, court proceedings, real estate transfers, lists of letters, school reports, probate filings, militia rolls, cemetery records, and territorial-era law indexes from the early-1800s through the late-1890s.
Provenance
This is a faithful restoration of the original indianasgore.com archive,
which was active editorially from 2013 through 2020 and then went dormant. Content has
been recovered from the Wayback Machine's
captures of the original site. Each article is served at its original URL path
so any external backlinks pointing at the old domain resolve directly.
Enrichment
Beyond the original site's taxonomy, this restoration adds:
- Surname index — 2857 family names appearing in 4+ articles.
- Places index — 41 towns and townships.
