VEVAY. The judicial seat of Switzerland county, is an enterprising town of 2,100 inhabitants, located on the Ohio river, 100 miles southeast of Indianapolis and 75 below Cincinnati. Vevay presents a thrifty and prosperous appearance, and is supplied with 5 churches—Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, Catholic and Christian—graded school, a bank, handsome private residences and a number of substantial business blocks. Three weekly newspapers, the Reveille, Times and Democrat, are published. The manufacturing interests include 2 saw mills, 1 chair factory, 2 planing mills, 3 furniture factories, 2 brick yards, 1 flour and 1 woolen mill. Exp., Adams. Tel., W. U. Mail, daily. C. O.
