Vevay Corportation Meeting – April 1855

Vevay, Switzerland County, Indiana Corporation meeting report appeared in:
The Weekly Reveille – 11 April 1855 – Page 3, Column 2

Deluge of the Corporation Trustees.

Thursday, April 5, 1855.

The Board met at the usual hour.

Present, Messrs. Thiebaud, Sullivan, Hall and Dufour. Absent, Messrs. Detraz, Miller and Grisard.

James Sullivan was appointed President pro tem.

Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

Wm. Peelman was allowed $9 for removing dead hogs.

Geo. Rodgers was allowed $2.25 for cleaning gutters and removing dead horse from graveyard lane.

Phillip Strain was allowed $6 for six days work, leveling stone and filling up rut on Washington street.

James H. Titus was allowed $2, for recording two deeds.

Charles Thieubaud was appointed to take charge of the public square, keep the fence in repair, &c.

Wm. Hall was appointed a committee to ascertain the probable cost of hay scales.

The committee appointed to fill up the work at the root of Ferry street, were allowed further time.

The Clerk was instructed to make out an assessment of the property on Washington to pay the balance due on the grading of the same.

The board adjourned.
