The following Dearborn County, Indiana land notices were published in Indiana newspapers in 1824. Dearborn County suffered a courthouse fire on 6 March 1826 that destroyed all records. See Dearborn County Reconstructed Records for more details.

SHERIFF’S SALE.

By virtue of sundry Executions to me directed from the Clerks office of the Dearborn Circuit Court; I will expose to sale at public vendue, at the Court House door in the town of Lawrenceburgh, on Saturday the first day of January 1825, between the hours of 10 and 5 o’clock on said day; the rents and profits for the term of 7 years against the following described property, Lands & Town lots, at the following suits to wit:

The undivided half of a Saw and Grist Mill & mill yard, together with ten Acres of land—also 50 acres of land, off the east end of S.E. qr. of sec. 33 T. 5, range 2 west, taken as the property of the East of Isaac Allen dec’d, to satisfy a judgment in favor of Zerah & Moses Towsey.

ALSO the undivided share of one hundred & forty Acres of Land, it being the south west qr. of sec. 2, town 4, range 2 west; taken as the property of Samuel Moore, at the suit of Jabez Percival.

ALSO a House and two lots, in the town of Wilmington, No. __ & __ taken as the property of Robert Moore at the suit of Jabez Percival.

ALSO seventy acres of Land, it being a part of south west qr. of sec. 31, town 4, range 1 west taken as the property of James Gibson, at the suit of Jacob Hayes.

ALSO 40 Acres of land, it being a part of the north east qr. of sec. 36, town 6, range 2, west, taken as the property of Jason Pierce, at the suit of John Gibson.

ALSO 140 acres of land, it being a part of the __ qr. of sec. 17, town 5, range 1 west; taken as the property of Thomas Longley, at the suit of Lewis Robinson, Matthew Jack, Worle & Jennings, & William B. Ewing & Co.

ALSO 107 acres of land, it being a part of sects. 3 and 4, town 5, range 1, west; taken as the property of Zebulon Pike, at the suit of Worle and Jennings.

ALSO half of In-Lot no. 46, and half of 183, & 184, in the town of Lawrenceburgh, taken as the property of David P. Shook, at the suits of Worle & Jennings and William Stephens.

ALSO sixty acres of land, it being a part of the __ quarter of sect. __, town 6, range 1, west; taken as the property of John Shook Sr. at the suit of Robert C. Martin, for the use of George P. Buell, against David P. Shook and John Shook Sr.

ALSO two certain pieces of land, as follows to wit: 1 north west of Capt. Vance’s new house, supposed to contain eleven acres of ground, and was in-lots in the Town of Lawrenceburg, Dearborn county, but has been vacated, and is bounded as follows: on the south by High street, on the west by Mulberry row, including the same on the north by Partition lane; and on the east by Ash street to Mulberry row and Union street; from High street to Partition lane, and the alley’s within the bounds aforesaid. And also one other certain tract or parcel of land, or Cornfield, situated north and east of the Pond adjoining; and north of Hunt’s and Armstrong’s meadows, supposed as is said to contain ten acres; and are more particularly known and designated as being out-lots of the said town of Lawrenceburg, numbers, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 51, 52, 53, 54 and 55; all levied upon and returned and will be sold as the property of the said Samuel C. Vance to satisfy an execution in favor of the Presid’t and Directors of the Farmers & Mechanics Bank of Indiana.

ALSO the following In Lots in the town of Lawrenceburg, to wit: No. 37, 51, 52, 29, 30, 31, 32, & half 50, adjoining High street; Also the following subdivided In-Lots in the last mentioned town: Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 20, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60; Alos nine acres of land on the Ohio bank, about half a mile from the mouth of the great Miami, adjoining the lands of Timothy Davis and Samuel Elliott. Also the undivided half of S. E. qr. of S. No. 20, T 5, R 1 west; Also the half of In-Lots No. 187 & 183 in the old town of Lawrenceburg, or so much of the above property as will satisfy the following executions: the President & Directors of the Farmers & Mechanics Bank of Indiana, Dunnell Lyman & Co. and Alexander Burnitt & Wm. Lynes, against Saml. C. Vance & others.

Also the undivided half of the S.E. qr. of S. No. 20, T 5, range 1 west; also In-Lots No. 33 & 34, taken as property of James Dill, to satisfy the following judgments, to wit: Two in favor of the Presdt. & Directors of the Farmers and Mechanics Bank of Indiana, Zerah Towsey and Dunnell Lyman & Co.

ALSO a certain piece of Land bound by the Miami river on the east by the state line, it being in the (county of Dearborn) bend of the river, opposite the town of Hardinsburg, it being a part of frac. S. 1, north part of frac. S. 12 & south east corner of S. 2 and part of N.E. corner of sec. 11, T. 5, range 1 west, supposed to contain two hundred & sixty acres, be the same more or less; seized and taken as the property of Wm. H. Harrison, at the suit of the President & Directors of the Farmers & Mechanics Bank of Indiana.

ALSO one in-lot and one half, in the town of Rising Sun, No. __ taken as the property of Hugh Espey Jr. at the suit of John Boone, against Robert Espey and Hugh Espey Jr.

N.B. If the rents and profits will not sell for sufficient to pay and satisfy each of the several executions, as they are levied on each tract or lot. I shall forthwith at the same time & place, and in the manner aforesaid, offer for sale, the Fee Simple of the above mentioned land, with the appurtenances thereon, for the highest price that can be got for them.

PUBLIC NOTICE.

Whereas one Thomas Dugan has lately advertised for sale of SIX HUNDRED acres of land adjoining the town of Aurora, being part of section 29 and fractional section 27 and 28 in township No. 5, and range No. 1 west, of the meridian line drawn from the mouth of the Great Miami River, all persons are hereby cautioned against purchasing said tract of land, as a clear, legal, and equitable title exists to the half of said land in the person of Mary Leonard and Gabriel J. Floyd and Sarah his wife, formerly Sarah Conn.

By virtue of a writ of fieri facias to me directed I have leivid a certain piece of land in the town of Lawrenceburgh, county of Dearborn, and state of Indiana, being part of the upper grass lot in said town lying opposite to In lots No. 159 and 160, and running from new street to the Ohio River and bounded on one side by the continuation of short street and on the other by the continuation of the south west line of lot No. 159 supposed to contain about one acre of land, seized and taken as the property of the Estate of Samuel Leonard deceased, which I shall expose to sale at the court house in the town of Lawrenceburgh on the 4th Monday of this present month at 10 o’clock A.M. on that day.

I have seized and taken in execution the east half of in-Lots No. 37 & 38, in the addition to the town of Lawrenceburgh, formerly Edensborough—taken as the property of said Barnhart, which I shall expose to public sale on the Eighteenth day of this inst. at the Court House in Lawrenceburgh.

Administrators’ Notice.

The creditors of Moses Tapley, late of the county of Dearborn, deceased, are hereby notified, that the undersigned have filed their bill of complaint with the Dearborn circuit court, and court of the settlement of decedent’s estates, in and for the county of Dearborn—setting forth the condition of said estate both real and personal; and shewing the insolvency of said estate. Notice is therefore hereby given to the creditors of said deceased, to present their claims before the fourth Monday in September next, otherwise their claims will be postponed.

EXECUTORS SALE.

Public Notice is hereby given, that the Executors of David Rees, late of Dearborn county dec’d, will expose to sale on the premises, on Monday the sixteenth day of May next; one hundred and thirty acres of Land in the vicinity of Lawrenceburg, part of Fractional Sec. 23, Town 5, Range 1 west; lying east of Tanners creek. This land will be sold in lots of various sizes. The terms are one third cash in hand, one third in six, and the residue of the purchase money in twelve months from the day of sale, bond and security will be required for the deferred payments. By order of the Dearborn Circuit Court, and Court for the settlement of decendents estates for Dearborn County.

EXECUTORS SALE.

Public notice is hereby given that the Executors of David Rees, late of Dearborn county dec’d, will expose to sale on the premises, on Monday the sixteenth day of May next; one hundred and thirty acres of Land in the vicinity of Lawrenceburg, part of Fractional Sec. 23, Town 5, Range 1 west; lying east of Tanners creek—This land will be sold in lots of various sizes. The terms are one third cash in hand, one third in six, and the residue of the purchase money in twelve months from the day of sale, bond and security will be required for the deferred payments. Notice.

Public notice is hereby given to Moses Eads, and Margret Eads his wife, formerly Margret Darragh, Polly Darragh, Charles Darragh, Joseph Darragh, and Drusilla Darragh, heirs and legal representatives of Charles Darragh late of Dearborn county deceased, that I have purchased the widow’s right of Dower and two of the undivided shares of, in, over, and to, a ten acre lot of land in the vicinity of Lawrenceburg, being part of fractional section 14, town 5, range one west, and that I shall apply to the Dearborn Circuit Court at their term on the 3d Monday in February next to appoint commissioners to partition and divide, to me my share or dividend of said ten acre of ground, agreeably to the statute in such case made and provided.
