Commissioners’ Court.
After remaining in session one week the County Commissioners adjourned last Saturday evening. Among the business transacted was the following:
The Township Trustees made their reports.
A petition was presented asking for change of road on Shull’s hill. John Gill, R. A. Knox and Wm. R. Protsman were appointed Viewers. To meet at the Auditor’s office on the 11th day of May.
David Lee and others petitioned for change of highway in Cotton Township. Granted.
Geo. H. Heady, and others, petitioned for vacation of road of Pleasant Township. Granted.
Israel Warner, and others, to have road ascertained, described, and entered of record. (“Donahue road,” in Posey Township.) Geo. H. Keeney was ordered to make survey on the 11th day of May. Appeal taken by John Higham to Circuit Court.
Allensville, Center Square and Vevay Turnpike Co. asked to have omitted lands assessed. Not granted. Co. appealed to Circuit Court.
Lewis Schroeder, and others, petitioned to have road located at Norisez Landing. Viewers reported favorable. U. P. Schenck objected, and asked that re-Viewers be appointed. Frank R. Dufour, Julius Muret and Constant Golay were appointed. To meet at the Auditor’s office May 4th.
During the past quarter County Orders were paid amounting to $9,473.11, which were cancelled and destroyed.
The following persons were selected to act as Grand Jurors for the March Term of the Circuit Court:
- Jefferson Township—John J. Miller and John M. Dodd.
- York—Edward B. Goddard and James McFadden.
- Posey—George Dibble and Aribert N. Buck.
- Cotton—Wm. Evens and Henry A. Likely.
- Pleasant—Wm. J. Adams and Wm. Folk.
- Craig—Wm. Anderson and Wm. R. Heath.
The following persons were selected as Grand Jurors for the October Term, 1874:
- Jefferson—Benjamin F. Montanye and John Tague.
- York—Geo. P. Krutz and Daniel S Boyd.
- Posey—John D. Mottier and Henry Wollock.
- Cotton—Jonathan David and Lyman N. Manser.
- Pleasant—James M. March and David Blodget.
- Craig—Even D. Miller and Henry Turner.
