The County Commissioners
Granted liquor licenses to John D. Myers, Markland, and Thos. Delaney, Vevay.
They also extended the time for collecting the railroad tax indefinitely.
Some few minor claims were allowed, but nothing more of importance was done.
The Board of Equalization was in session two days. They passed on the Assessors’ returns,

COUNTY BUSINESS.
Among other business transacted by the County Commissioners at their recent session was the following:
John D. Myers, Markland, Thomas Delaney, Vevay, were granted license to retail liquors.
C. G. Adams, County Treasurer, presented orders redeemed by him for last quarter, amounting to $23,558.53, which were compared with Auditor’s books, found correct and cancelled.
The following persons were appointed Inspectors of Elections:
- Craig Township—John F. Cotton. Place of voting changed to Cotton School House. Precinct No. 2, Albert Brindley.
- Pleasant—Moorefield, Precinct No. 2, William Culbertson.
- Cotton—East Enterprise, Precinct No. 1, Eugene W. Heath.
- Posey—Davis’ Corner, Precinct No. 2, Jacob V. Powell.
- York—Florence, Precinct No. 1, Andrew W. Given.
- Jefferson—Jacksonville, Precinct No. 3, Thomas Webster. Court House, No. 1, Robert A. Knox.
The rate of county taxation was fixed at 65 cents on each $100 and 50 cents on each poll—same as last year.
“It is ordered by the Board that the redemption of county bonds heretofore made by C. G. Adams, Treasurer, with Common and Congressional School Fund, is hereby approved, and the Treasurer is ordered to pay the county bonds now outstanding with the same fund.”
Physicians for poor persons were appointed as follows:
- Jefferson—Dr. P. S. Sage.
- Craig township and Poor Asylum—Dr. J. H. Shadday.
- York—Florence precinct, Dr. J. M. W. Langsdale. Markland Precinct, Dr. J. S. Woodside.
- Posey—Dr. E. M. Cheever.
- Cotton—Drs. J. W. & C. L. VanOsdol.
- Pleasant—Bennington precinct, Dr. R. M. Copeland.
