Switzerland County, Indiana, Commissioners’ proceedings for June 1886 appeared in:

County Business.
Among other business transacted by the County Commissioners was the following:
John D. Myers, Markland; George Scott, Florence; Andrew Shafer, Patriot; Thomas Delaney, Vevay, were granted license to retail liquor.
M. C. Walden, County Superintendent, was granted use of Court House in which to hold County Institute.
Eugene W. Heath was appointed a Justice of the Peace to fill a vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Harvey Littlefield.
Charles G. Adams, County Treasurer, presented orders redeemed for quarter ending May 31st, amounting to $26,149.39—found correct and cancelled.
In the matter of petition of Thomas Dyer and others for a bridge over Indian Creek at Knox’s Ford. Deferred until September term.
James Curry, late Superintendent of Poor Farm, having learned that he was accused of taking away from the poor farm articles belonging to the county, appeared before the Board and demanded an investigation, which was granted, and the Board found Curry innocent.
It was ordered that the County Treasurer redeem $5,000 worth of county bonds.
The Board appointed the following persons as Inspectors of Elections for the ensuing year, for precincts other than the ones in which Trustees reside:
- Jefferson Township—Court House (No. 1), Oliver S. Johnson; LeClerc House (No. 2), James S. Knox
- York Township—Florence, Edward P. Goddard.
- Posey Township—Davis’ Corner, Wm. Cunningham.
- Cotton Township—Fairview, Charles W. Mendell.
- Pleasant Township—Moorefield, C. Smith.
- Craig Township—at John Cotton’s, Peter V. Ramseyer.
