Commissioners’ Court.
The Township Assessors of each Township presented their reports, which were accepted and approved.
James H. Brown was appointed Constable for Pleasant Township, to fill a vacancy.
Henry Schewe, Fallis & Duncan, Daniel Plew, and Thomas Delaney were granted retail liquor licenses.
The bids for a bridge over Goose Creek, in Posey Township, were opened, and no bonds having been filed the same were rejected, and the letting of the contract ordered to be re-advertised for July 8, 1878.
John F. Doan, Jr., applied for a retail liquor license, and the Board, after hearing evidence, refused to grant the same.
George H. Kyle was granted retail liquor license.
The following person were appointed as Township pauper physicians for the several Townships, for one year from June 15, 1878:
For York and Jefferson Townships, including Vevay and the County jail, Dr. W. T. Mefford, of Markland, for $80.00. For Craig Township and the Poor House, Dr. W. L. Moon, for $50. For Pleasant, Dr. P. C. Holland, for $40. For Cotton, Dr. J. W. Vanosdol, for $40. For Posey, Dr. E. M. Cheever, for $75.

Commissioners’ Court.
The Board visited the bridge at the mouth of Log Lick Creek, and after examination of the same, Joseph Peelman was employed to repair said bridge.
In the matter of the petition of Joshua G. Coleman and others for a change, vacation and re-location of a highway in Craig Township, the viewers reported favorably. Thereupon came William C. Scott and Alexander McKenzie, who moved to set aside said report, which motion was by the Board sustained, at the petitioners’ costs.
Mrs. Ostrander, of Craig Township, was relieved from the payment of taxes on condition that she become a county pauper at any time.
The petition of William T. Wiley for the establishment of a ferry across the Ohio river, was dismissed at the costs of the petitioner.
In the case of Ripley county vs. Switzerland county, wherein judgment was rendered for plaintiff for $1,180.86 in addition to $925.80 already paid, the county attorney was ordered to have the same appealed, and prepare the necessary papers, &c.
Dr. E. M. Cheever was appointed as physician for the poor of Posey Township.
M. R. Green and others petitioned for a bridge across Wade’s Run, which was referred to Commissioner Stewart.
C. J. Robenstein presented his report of county orders redeemed by him during the last three months, showing he had redeemed orders to the amount of $21,509.31, which were examined, compared, cancelled, and filed in the Auditor’s office.
John Gill, Auditor, presented his report for the year ending May 31, 1878, as follows: [see newspaper].
The Board, Auditor and Treasurer, made their report of the Congressional and School Funds, showing amounts of Congressional Township funds in trust, $20,400.99; am’t of Common School funds in trust, $21,608.61.
James W. Horton was appointed to fill a vacancy as Constable for Jefferson Township, occasioned by the failure of Samuel Fallis to qualify.
