The Switzerland County Commissioners’ proceedings appeared in:

County Business.
Robert A. Scott, Luther C. Buck, and Wm. Brindley, County Commissioners, met Monday, Dec. 3rd, for the transaction of County business.
John D. Brindley, Joseph E. Brown and Thos. J. Joyce, were granted license to retail liquors.
In the matter of petition of Nathan Matthews and others for the location of highway in Jefferson and Switzerland Counties. The viewers, S. H. Morrison and J. K. Reed, reported in favor of granting the petition. The report was approved, and the road ordered opened thirty feet wide.
In the matter of the petition of Marshal B. Hyde and others, for vacation of a highway in Cotton Township. The viewers, Wm. H. Scott, Henry J. Dibble, and Erastus Ford, reported in favor of granting the petition. The report was approved, and the road ordered vacated.
James P. Orem, County Recorder, filed his bond, which was approved.
Wm. C. Robinson, County Treasurer, presented orders redeemed by him during quarter ending November 30th, 1883, amounting to $15,446.29. Examined, compared with the Auditor’s Register and stubs—found correct and cancelled.
Lemuel Bledsoe, who was appointed to contract for and superintend the painting of Court House, presented a detailed report. He had three propositions to do the work and finally contracted with Henry Weals to put three coats of paint on house, cupola and face of clock, for which he recommended the Board pay Mr. Weales $322. He also employed J. W. Boyd to go over the metal roof and repair all leaks, for which he agreed to pay $5. The report was fully approved, and the bills made by Mr. Bledsoe were paid to the parties doing the work.
The Board adjourned Thursday evening until last Tuesday morning and are in session today, Thursday.
