Switzerland County Commissioners – Dec 1877

The Switzerland County, Indiana Commissioners’ proceedings appeared in:

Commissioners Court.

The County Commissioners met last Monday, and will probably remain in session during the remainder of the week. The following is a condensed report of their proceedings from day to day:

MONDAY.

John H. McHenry and Henry Likely, the viewers appointed on the petition of Alfred Downey and others for the vacation of a highway in Cotton Township, reported the same not of public utility, and the same was ordered vacated. On petition of said Alfred Downey and others a new road was established in said township as prayed for in their petition.

 

TUESDAY.

Charles J. Robenstein, Treasurer, presented to the Board for cancellation the county orders redeemed by him during the last quarter, with his account for registration of same, amounting to $18,413.18; which orders were examined, compared with the Auditor’s books, and destroyed by burning in the presence of the Board.

 

WEDNESDAY.

Samuel Adkinson was appointed a Justice of the Peace for Craig Township, to fill a vacancy occasioned by the removal from this State of John Lancaster.
