COURT REPORT.

Court convened on Monday. Judge Roberts presiding.

State vs. John Kelley; desecration of the Sabbath; pleads guilty, and fined $3 and costs.

The grand jury was sworn in. John C. Younker and James D. Willis were appointed members of the grand jury, instead of Francis Swales and Frank R. Dorman. James D. Willis was appointed foreman.

In his charge to the grand jury the Court referred to a former report of that body respecting the jail. If this means on order for improvement, it is one step for humanity’s sake. As the jail is now, it is a disgrace to the county. There is neither light nor ventilation, and the sewerage pipes have been in place twenty years.

Patrick Keon, of Cincinnati, was sworn in as a member of the bar of this Circuit.

Henry Pieper and another have filed an information that one Mary E. Scholle, living in Ripley county, but having a personalty of $700 in this county, is of unsound mind, and should have a guardian.

The most of Tuesday and Wednesday was taken up in getting cases at issue.

Court opened with forty six new cases on the docket.

Hannah Marshall was appointed guardian of the minor heirs of Anson Marshall, deceased.

Leah Redding vs. Henry Redding. Divorce. Dismissed.

John A. Conwell vs. John C. Younker et al. Judgment for plaintiff for $375.90.

Peter J. Rossfield recovered judgment from John W. Truitt for $112.50.

John Cairns, administrator &c., vs. Catherine Buckel et als. Granted permission to sell certain real estate belonging to the estate of David Buckel.

Anna Maria Kroner declared to be the only heir at law of Katherine Brossar, late of California.

Joseph C. Vandolah, administrator of the estate of Joseph Lenover, made report of sale of certain real estate belonging to said estate. The court approves said sale.

Henry Pieper appointed guardian of Mary E. Scholle of Ripley county, an insane person. Bond $1500.

Margaret Young’s last will was probated on the 2d.

Andrew Ritzle was appointed administrator of the estate of Barbara Manni. Bond $1000.

James Greer vs. W. H. Small; judgment against defendant for $865.

Amanda Rubel vs. James Vinson; judgment against defendant for $116.50.

Levi F. Jackson vs. John C. Younker. Judgment against defendant for $2471.75.

Chas Bauer vs. John Doran Sr. Judgement against defendant for $67.

W. C. Henry vs. Same. Judgment against defendant for $32.

C. J. Miller allowed $10 as witness in the case of the State vs. Omer Pierce.

John M. Palmer vs. Ezra G. Hayes. Judgment against defendant for $265.

The Grand Jury returned six indictments on Friday.

H. D. McMullen was appointed counsel to defend Jack Jones, Chris Spades and William Sny.

The petit jury was sworn in on Monday.
