Indiana began recording deaths in 1882. Ohio County death records can be ordered from the Ohio County Health Department. Volumes 1-3 of Ohio County deaths have been microfilmed, along with typed abstracts from volumes 4-9 (FHL 1311820).

Beginning in 1899, the state began collecting death records from the counties. Indiana state death certificates can be requested from Indiana State Department of Health. Death certificates from 1899 to 2011 are available online at Ancestry.com.
